So often, the talk surrounding who wore what to the Oscars is very serious, a little uptight and a lot pretentious. This year gave us a refreshing change. Sure, everyone still looked absolutely amazing. (Even Armie Hammer, who had the flu, still went looking as stone cold fox incredible as ever.) But on top of all the gorgeousness, there was some much needed humor, too.

Nicole Kidman can that woman ever look bad? Or even just a tiny bit less than perfect? Apparently not. The 50 year old wowed the paparazzi to no end in her blue Armani Prive gown, and yet she also shared an Instagram insider look at her getting ready process, complete with makeup free snaps.

Jennifer Garner seems to just be getting more beautiful every year. She donned royal blue, too, but in a completely different, Old Hollywood style Atelier Versace gown with a sweeping cape. (It paired up perfectly with the 18 carat white gold Piaget earrings set with diamonds and blue sapphires.)

Then there was Whoopi Goldberg, who Vogue has named an fashion icon after this year ceremony. Decked out in an epic teal, gold and purple Christian Siriano ball gown, the actress/comedian stole plenty of the spotlight in the off the shoulder design baring her intricate tattoos.

Maybe best of all was Tiffany Haddish, who not only wore the same white Alexander McQueen gown she has on several other public occasions (including while hosting Night Live, where she made the proclamation that she was going to wear it as much as possible), but she also marched onstage to deliver an Oscar wearing Ugg shearling slippers. Any woman who ever sat through a long evening enduring painfully high stilettos knew exactly what she was talking about and at that moment, you could almost feel the wave of envy coming from every other woman in the audience.
