When police arrived, they were told by store employees that a woman entered the store and ordered a 24 ounce frozen caramel cappuccino through the kiosk. A clerk said she recognized her as the same person who ordered the same drink at the same time one day earlier. On that earlier day, the unidentified woman picked up her drink and left without paying for it.
On this second day, the drink was again made and when the clerk looked back the drink and the woman were gone. She asked another clerk who told her that the woman left. She checked the register and realized the drink had not been paid for.
The suspect was described as a tanned, white middle aged female with scraggly brown hair. The loss for the cappuccino was $4.75. Surveillance footage shows the woman leaving with the cappuccino in hand in what appeared to be a Toyota Rav4. She was wearing Ugg boots and dark pants and a three quarter length white jacket.
Police were called to the store on the report of a retail theft in progress. Pierre was being held by store security who told police that video footage showed the women taking several items of store merchandise and placing them in bags before attempting to flee the store through the sublevel elevator. Store security attempted to stop them at the exit. That led to a physical altercation, police said. Police say the man was seen removing $20 worth of merchandise from store shelves and then placing them in his coat pocket at the Rite Aid store on Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore. As he walked to the exit, he was stopped by store security and police were called.
